The Pattern
Every piece begins as a paper block, adjusted by hand against a fit model until the drape sits right — before a single thread is cut.
Drafted in-house · Adjusted by hand

Linen and wool, cut in small runs and finished by hand. Nothing rushed, nothing wasted.

A small capsule of considered essentials — linen shirting, washed cotton, undyed wool.

Fabric is laid flat and cut in small runs, grain aligned by eye. Off-cuts are kept and worked into future pieces rather than discarded.
Small-batch cutting · Low-waste
Seams are finished with a visible running stitch — not for decoration, but because a hand-finished seam holds its shape longer than a serged one.
Hand-finished seams · Built to hold
Buttons are set, edges pressed, and every piece is checked against the original pattern before it leaves the atelier.
Quality checked · Ready to wear

Woven in Biella from European flax, garment-washed before cutting so it arrives already broken in.

Fine-gauge merino from small Alpine flocks, spun for drape rather than bulk.

Pre-shrunk and stone-washed so the fit you try on is the fit that stays.
We don't design six collections a year. We design one, refine it, and let it sit in the range until it's earned a place in someone's rotation for good.
Every pattern is drafted in-house and every sample is worn before it's approved — by us, not just a fit model. If we wouldn't wear it through a season, it doesn't ship.

Filare started in a rented back room with two sewing machines and a pattern that took four tries to get right. The idea was simple — clothes cut like they'd have to last, because they did. No new colour drops to chase, no seasonal panic. Just a handful of pieces, made properly, worn on repeat.
That's still the whole method. We keep the range small enough to know every piece by hand, and we'd rather sell one jacket that lasts eight years than eight jackets that don't last one.
"I've bought fast fashion linen before and it never survives a summer. This has been through two, still holds its shape at the collar."
"The fit is the closest I've found to made-to-measure without paying for it. I've stopped looking at other brands for basics."
Questions about fit, fabric, or a piece you're not sure about — we read every message ourselves.
